I read the summary and first few pages of this and was like, Just read something else
The Stranger was fine, but I’m in no rush to read more Camus tbh
can definitely see where you're coming from. I need to stop reading books I don't like instead of trying to finish them
Camus seems like an author who is beloved by a few but most people wouldn't like much
2021 is the year of biographies for me.
Any recommendations?

If you liked Pimp, you might like Richard Pryor's biography or Miles Davis'.

I read Davis' recently, and it made me not wanna read autobiographies for a bit lol
Not because it was bad or anything–– it was just so tedious, and I think I would've gotten way more enjoyment from a doc (or even a shorter book. That s*** was 400 pages)
Still, that book put me on to a lot of great jazz history.
Endgame: Bobby Fischer's Remarkable Rise and Fall

Wow. What an enigmatic, mercurial person. I think he was schizophrenic.

My fifth Murakami book. Would put this right behind A Wild Sheep Chase and Dance, Dance, Dance
A really interesting book that is written as a novel but describes how a system of market socialism could work in the current world. Author is a Greek politician and was the Greek minister of finance for a short period post crisis
I’d definitely recommend
The Big Sleep by Raymond Chandler

widely considered one of the best detective novels, this was an entertaining read. even though it's a bit generic with the noir, the dialogue was clever and the story engaging. also pretty impressive that this was Chandler's first novel and it basically defined a genre. not surprised Humphrey Bogart played the lead in the movie, which I'll watch soon. I'll check out some of Chandler's other books and would recommend this for light reading

Just finished Koko by Peter Straub. I enjoyed it, but it was a bit too meandering for my taste. Also wished it was scarier, but maybe I had the wrong impression going in. Will probably read more Straub in the future, but I definitely prefer King's storytelling over his. Maybe I'm just shallow lol

Finished Escape from Camp 14, crazy story about one of the only successfull escapes from a north korean concentration camp
Looking for some good new books if anyone has any recs
You mean like PMing
yea or make a thread on here asking who'd be interested in beta reading your work.
if you want more professional feedback from people with experience then use fiverr. I'm sure you could find somebody perfect for your work for a reasonable price

I mean how’s many pages is it lol
How many pages is 90k
Idk, s*** lmao but that's like what, 300? Or 350 Round about?
not really a full book but I finished the metamorphosis by kafka and i havent felt this depressed from a book in a while.
Like its such an absurd concept but it’s crazy how well it could represent feelings of alienation or lack of self esteem
Half of a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

man f*** y'all for recommending this
this was a heartbreaking read that was both hard to put down and hard to continue. it's about the civil war in Nigeria in the sixties and did an amazing job capturing the horrors and anxieties of war without it being histrionic. extremely well written and I'll definitely check out another of her books, but now I gotta read something light for sure
