luckily the teacher was cool, so he let us off with a warning

So I go to UVA and this was my first semester and I passed all of my classes except computer science. I had good grades on all the assignments except the exams.
Furthermore, two weeks ago I helped my cousin (who’s also a student) with one of his assignments. I sent him an example of my own work and he copied my code line from line. I only sent him a picture to help him understand the assignment. I had no idea he was going to copy my work. He didn’t even tell me he copied it. So the professor ended up accusing me of cheating and gave me a 0 which caused me to fail the class.
So now here I am feeling the effects of trying to help my family out.
Here's an underrated college lesson. NEVER post your full assignment for other students(even your family) to see. You can guide them on what to do but don't do anymore than that. You never know what kind of professors you will get and if certain classmates are lazy to do their own work and possibly snitch if s*** gets hot.
