Born sinner sold nearly 300k fw. GKMC did sideline story fw numbers.
FHD sold 350k first week while being a surprise release. TPAB sold like 320k. Cole was bigger than Kendrick until 2017. Impact is a wash.
First week doesn't matter, this was his major label debut ofc first week did like Cole World
It's a way bigger album than any of Cole's albums
Feel like something like this wont ever happen again. A legend and two of the biggest new school rappers at the time dropping at the same time???
This song sounds like it could have came out in 2010 with how J cole makes music. Kendrick doesn't even use female acts nor structures his hooks like this at all or ever raps on a beat like this lmao you are reaching.
Have you even listened to TPAB? Plenty of female vocalists on hooks

Because it sold more OVER TIME (like 5 years) I said he was bigger at the time it came out. I didnt say Kendrick didnt become bigger later on.

He was bigger pre-2017 too

Name Cole songs with credited female singers

Crooked Smile
Nobody's Perfect
watching movies with the sound off was the album that helped me get through rehab
rip mac
I used to work with this one guy named Dez and he was a big Mac fan and whenever I hear Fight The Feeling I think of him and get sad cause he was a bro fr. I wonder what hes up to now
U can't put God is right next to ITAKY, and next to Fade. I'm sure u can try the same way u could try putting songs on the first 3 next to eachother but it wouldn't really mesh.
I get ur point, his last 3 aren't as distinct as his first 5 but they're still distinct enough from another. An album as weird as pablo, to a stripped down and bare album as ye to a full gospel record with Jik.
So Ultra light beam couldn’t have been on JIK or even a version of Father stretch my hands? Nothing on Ye could have possibly fit on TLOP? It’s not like that record followed any sort of thematic or even sonic thread line he had a record about living in a god dream right next to a record about bleaching a*******s lmfao. I’m not saying this just to say it. I do believe there is a logical reason for this and that reason is cross pollination. A lot of records that were left off this that we reworked into that or records that were meant for this that we decided to put on that instead. So I’m not necessarily blaming it on or arguing anything abstract. I think there’s a valid reason why these last few records are less distinctive. JIK is probably the only outlier and that’s largely strictly due to a change in content but sonically? You can’t tell me any one of these records couldn’t have been exchanged, interchanged, or even put on the same album because for the most part, at least for the past couple of years, that’s kind of exactly what they’ve been doing anyway lol

Ultralight beam can be on Jik, the same way gold digger could be on CD, or Bittersweet could be on LR. Sure there are a very few records that can be on other projects, but overall nah.
And that cross pollination argument only really works for yandhi/Jik. Ye was built from scratch and most of the leftovers meant for pablo got scrapped with the exception of NMPILA. There's actually more cross pollination going on with the first 6 than the last 3.
And I don't really think JIK is that sonically similar to ye, but agree to disagree lol
Cole outshined Ye
Dumbass alert or A1 troll alert. Take your pickings everyone
Mac’s album was the best of the 3
2nd for me is Cole
I just don’t like Yeezus that much. It has a couple good songs but some songs that I just absolutely hate.
Lmao this really riled them up huh
hell yeah, I’m never dissing Yeezus again on here lmao
People swear J Cole is a Kendrick clone it’s hilarious to me
Since 2013 he was...
Mac and Ye dropped classics. Born Sinner sucks tbh but it still is better than most of his discography tbh.
The album that turned Mac's career around and started the 180 where he got better.
REMember
Macs career was doing very well before this album
