Rare Horse FarmerI agree. I felt differently 15 years ago when there was still a real, semi-working music journalism apparatus. He was one review amongst dozens and it was truly “one opinion”.
Fast forward and he has the monopoly on music criticism. In many ways he gets the last word and not only is it unfair, he’s not very good at it lol
That's honestly the worst part of it is just that his reviews arent very good whether theyre positive or negative

critics should be for artists, that’s kinda the learning method for disciplined art forms
i never said modern music critics should serve artists, im just speaking to artists feelings
often times they’re reviewed as media products, when there’s a team of people behind each major label release. i don’t think it’s always fair when a decent effort gets dumped on, although i’ll admit there’s a ton of albums i’ll gladly rip to shreds
