this is where i feel like the fast pacing really hurt the series. I feel like i should feel more bad for megumi and understand him more but i've only seen this nigga have one conversation with his sister

Plus he always seemed to be the one to put his feeling away in order to fight for the greater purpose of protecting the world

You need to see someone interact with a sibling they loss to feel bad? That’s not how sympathy works. I think it’s simply you’re not invested in Megumi to care. He also loss more than just his sister to understand why he is broken. Seeing him wrecked and unable to have the will to live should elicit a feeling of sadness for him if you liked the character a bit. He loss his sister, adopted dad, and went got his body hopped to commit atrocities. That’s just tragic in writing, you don’t need to see anything more.

Yes. You should see your character interact with other characters to sympathize with them.

That's how stories work. Megumi could have said (Gege could have written) any other person or name and it would hold the same weight lol. We have literally seen him have more sibling interactions with other characters lol.

It's why people actually understood Yuji folding VS Megumi

THANK YOU!!!!!!!! he is the mentally toughest character out of the 3 mains. him folding in this manner is weak. it is understandable but weak.

Anyways, no. A story can be conveyed in many ways. Not just the only way you want it. There’s a reason others feel for Megumi, and maybe the main point was to convey why Megumi lost his will to live, not to make you feel for him. This story doesn’t have to make the reader love the character to cry for them because this manga was always plot driven.

Since people want to get attached to fictional characters like real people you shouldn’t need to know the full on scope to their grief. Someone tell me someone died or that they are sad, that’s just enough, I don’t need to know more to feel for them. Writers can’t incorporate reality into their story? Gotcha. How the hell are you going to know his relationship more than what he tells you about if his sister is in a coma the whole story? The story barely used flashbacks so if your problem is that then I don’t know what to tell you. We already knew he respected his sister and that she was his moral compass, so it is sad to see him crumble and for him to have killed her is tragic writing. Trust me I can find plenty stories written this exact way that is well revered.

I never said this story tries to pull at your heartstrings with character writing but your weirdness at hating at the story has now latched on to attacking me for responding differently than your hate? Lol trust I don’t take you seriously.

Nah this is just wrong. Yuji is the guy that believes he should save as many people as possible without judging if they are good or bad.

Megumi wants to be selfish in saving the people he believes are good. But he thinks its unfair that good people like Tsumiki and Yuji were dealt such an unfair hand which is the entire reason for the plot basically.

His entire ideology is based on that flicker of hope that the people that are treated unfair by the world can be saved and helped.Of course his soul got crushed when he found out all his efforts were just an illusion and he never had a chance of saving his sister the entire time.

Gege could have done so much with this considering how many characters died being jujutsu sorcerers but he’s speed running and all these recent fights feel meaningless tbh. It’s just whatever to me tbh

I’m a troll and I bait all the time but I’m being honest when I said I’m glad I’m not collecting this manga (plus the art in my opinion isn’t good enough to collect like OPM)

Its why I said Megumi is the best character. While he wants to unfairly save the good people like Tsumiki and Yuji he does not consider himself part of that which is why he would try to summon Mahoraga so often and put himself in harms way just to try and safe Tsumiki during the culling games. Knowing sukuna is right next to him. Honestly go back to the early culling games and read his fight. Its literally stated by himself that he is so tense he is not rationalizing at all

Also Being a person with a pure heart is literally his only criteria for his partner.

He done enough imo. Its just a bit fast as I said earlier. 15% more of all of jjk wouldve been even better.

I love the concepts he talks about. I wouldnt collect the manga either because I dont collect manga but I think for shounen jump its still good. But of course there are alot fancier volumes out there especially from the monthly or bimonthly series

Bro fights for good people but bad things keep happening to the good people anyways and everything he’s been doing has been for nothing on top of other traumatic s***. He’s ideology has been challenged to the utmost degree far more than any other character. I don’t know what Gege is cooking but I hope it’s edible when it’s time to eat. Right now, it’s depressing as hell

If he sticks the landing I’ll gladly praise the manga

Always can trust you will come in clutch, was about to quote those same panels lmao
Literally since the very first chapters we can see a big glimpse of Megumi's ideology and principles and as always, Gege stays consistent from the very beginning.
All these post really make you realize if someone is projecting, have actual criticism or dont even be paying attention to a character.
    Anyways this is Cinema

Personally I agree, most other characters skate on moveset and are pretty didactic. It’s cool tho character and psychology does not seem to be something Gege cares too much about .
