1) would have prevented any issues from spreading worldwide
2) would have fixed them in an hour tops - not 4 hoursWhatever is happening out there it's probably really bad
I think the weirdest thing about this is how it happened right after that 60 minutes interview with the Facebook whistleblower went viral

Since they said it was a BGP issue, someone from a remote location probably f***ed up on a config change and lost remote access. They would probably need someone with local access to fix the issue.
