Jul 22, 2022·1 replyOscar WinnerI agree with this, exactly what I meant by some of the story being pointless cus I never felt scared for the characters and Winston is just a corny actor to me so none of his lines made me laugh. And I felt that way during my first watch.
During this I was into it the entire time and was really blown away by the visuals. Daniel and Keke characters were ying and Yang while still being connected so it made their dynamic very interesting
Only downside was Barbies character, they really gave her a pointless role which sucks
I still stick by my initial thought that she initially had a bigger role, maybe as a tag along with Angels character, but it was cut down during filming or post.
Also adds to why she deleted any promo of the movie on her page

I think the scene after the full Gordy flashback when he’s standing there lost in space before his wife has him practice the show lines showed that no matter how much he tried to bury it he still feels trauma from the incident. It just so happened the high from that survival outweighed any trauma.
I was so caught up in the kill bill references to see the deeper meaning in that scene

feels like his thinking was very similar to someone who survived a bad car accident. That person now feels as if their the chosen one in life,like god has a greater purpose forbthem. Maybe thats where some of the biblical ideas come in with this movie

we try to control things not natural to us as entertainment and it backfires. The show runners for the show Ricky was on tried to parade Gordy around not realizing he’s dangerous as f\*\*\*. Now that Ricky is older he’s doing the same with ‘Jean Jacket’.
you could also add that there’s things that trigger Gordy/Jean Jacket/any predator in general that will awaken their innate being. Gordy was with the balloons, Jean Jacket was eating the fake horse. For 6 months the monster had a routine etc until OJ & Em fed it the fake horse then it went on a rampage

Ricky and the girl who survived the Gordy Massacre literally tried to tempt fate twice and the 2nd time didn't work out at all. But in a way,I think Gordy Massacre girl didn't wanna live like that and she didn't really wanna see Ricky get to thrive while she's ruined for the rest of her life. Maybe the spectacle scene can be considered a bad miracle
The way she got up from her seat when the monster was coming,felt like she was saying "im ready to leave here anyway,lets get it done")
