This was shockingly bad. All the characters except Oj were straight out of a low budget s***ty disaster movie. The plot was nothing new and predictable. I'm surprised tbh

Chimp -> exploited, dressed up for people to gawk at, tragedy happened, tragedy was then exploited and turned into content by mad tv and SNL. Jupe was the only survivor. No one on the set of the show respected the animals ‘rules’ or attempted to learn them

Alien -> Jupe grows up to make the same mistake with the alien. Wants a bunch of people to pay to see him put on a show where he feeds horses to a big ass alien.

The theme of the untameable wild animal connects the monkey and the alien, and is where OJ works as the protagonist. His work and love of horses gives him the knowledge that to tame an animal you have to enter into an agreement with it that you’ll play by its rules/respect it/tame it etc

They’re also both huge tragic spectacles that attracted eyes and people couldn’t turn away from.

Also smaller detail, When jupe was under the table hiding from the monkey, the table cloth was covering his eyes. This may be why the monkey didn’t kill him (no direct eye contact) and ties into the alien eating you if you look at it

What's new about it

I like this explanation. Makes a lot of sense. But theres just little similarities between a chimp and an alien for that connection to be made fully. For one, a chimp isn't as dangerous as an alien. Like we'd be surprised about a chimp killing people but not an alien.

If it wasn't a chimp going ape s*** on an snl show and instead a tiger or some wild animal going wild in a circus show, I'd have felt more of a connection with that story and the alien story. That's just cause the wild animal and alien share some similarities
