Yeah because it’s a perfect shot, visually/technically, like the booth scene from Paris Texas
its just a closeup w barely any thought involved
comparing it to a shot w carefully studied blocking and color scheme/lighting is crazy

comparing it to a shot w carefully studied blocking and color scheme/lighting is crazyit's naive to think their aren't studying that in the same way, also i think there's cg when the foreground blurs and it looks like there's some warping on the lipstick as his grin gets bigger.
Either way, it looks good.

Either way, it looks good.
i mean that paris texas shot plays a lot w those things in a way this shot doesnt seem to do, even the things u mentioned sound just like little tricks but maybe actual context will enrich the scene
