Idk the last movie was fkn phenomenal man. Working in NYC and seeing how well he wrote all of the issues plaguing the city into Gotham was extremely cool well done imho and the story of mental illness isolation and idolatry were expertly portrayed through the narrative of the film.. I haven't seen this one yet, clearly will wait till streaming, but there's not only a ton of comments saying most ppl complain about the musical aspect but also anyone I asked in real life said "the musical s*** ruined it for me". Lmaoo make of that what you will

Even though I personally didn't like the movie

I will give WB and Phillips props for having the balls to make a "mainstream" movie this anti crowd pleasing and subversive based on a iconic character like The Joker.

A lot of these types of IP movies nowadays play it very safe and are terrified of pissing off the hyper opinionated nerds online if they get the material "wrong"

Cats like Critical Drinker and Tyrone Magnus are making a whole career of this s***

This movie plays like a huge middle finger to those types

The last movie wasn’t phenomenal he just riffed on Taxi Driver and King Of Comedy for 90 minutes and mixed it in with DC lore lmao

So because something's derivative with a twist that's bad now? Half of the good s*** we're watching fits this mold and ppl love it I.e the penguin. Idk why your tryna s*** on the earlier film Phoenix was transcendent and the realism and grittiness was palpable and something I think that went beyond comics ina fashion similar to TDK. If you hate it that's fine we can agree to disagree but the first movie by many ppls standards was a great film, dk if you heard lol

Joaquin already did a great gritty performance with You Were Never Realky Here. His joker performance is fine but you’re overselling it lol

Dog the penguin is LITERALLY Batman meets sopranos cmon lmaoo and nah idt I am I mean a lot of ppl really felt his performance was riveting but w/e end of the day back to the original point, everything I've seen or heard has been frustration with the musical aspect, is what it is

Ty fam it's literally Tony soprano takes over gotham city lmaoo.. I've seen sopranos over 10 times and Collin is purposely evoking gandolfinis hand crafts mannerisms and tirades (ie pickles scene episode one). I don't hate it all it's so fun well done and respectful and it's derivative with a twist. It's like impossible to not take inspiration from the wealth of s*** out there creative writing wise yk? Derivative is cool but just make it your own, which joker I felt did well

Wish the writing in the penguin came even close to what The Sopranos managed to achieve but hey, can't have it all and that was a one of one type show anyway.
