sometimes you get word back from the original creator very close to the release. and they don’t clear it.

so you’re tasked with remaking a beat, replacing the song etc. i’m currently dealing with this, remaking a sample for a Doe Boy song. been a month since we got the assignment.

last year i remade a Yo Gotti beat that was pushed back because they sampled the theme song to a huge show, couldn’t clear it. they had to wait on us to recreate the sample.

Seems like an extremely inefficient process for all parties involved...way too much last minute s*** going on there smh

yeah absolutely. i put it on the dumbfuck producers who choose to sample really prolific songs. people like myself gotta come in like the cleaner and help fix an idiot mistake

which is why producers like Frank Dukes, Cubeatz began to take precedence. they could emulate the "feeling" of a sample, and it made for some really great records (see - RICO by Drake and Meek, Real Friend by Kanye West).

this s*** is doing a full circle now because "melody maker" producers (ie, ones who dont do drums) have started using samples again, which completely defeats the purpose of their existence.
