Who was influenced by him? Not trying to be a d*** but what style did he have that so many rappers are using?
I don’t think there was one. People gave him props because he was good and didn’t get what he deserved but I don’t feel like I hear doom in many other rappers styles.
I’m not trying to disrespect the guy or anything I just think we get reeeeeal lenient with the word legend.
suck my nuts
"Who was influenced by DOOM?"
Buddy you ever listen to rap in your life?
If Jim Jones is really about that energy the way he was when he called into the Joe Budden Podcast, Push might have his work cut out for him just off the fact that Jim has nothing to lose. He isn't Drake who is some famous celebrity with an image to protect who'll back down so things don't get messier.
Lol the dumb as f*** judgements that get made on this site because someone doesn’t agree with you are hilarious.
Everyone just says “you must be 12” and “you must be white”. I’m 29 and black but you act like you’re some higher being because I don’t think doom is a legend?? Dude was a good rapper but we must have different definitions of what constitutes a legend.
I feel like you think niggas said he was a GOAT he's he's legend thats not that crazy
I don't even like DOOM beyond a few songs but come on

Well you're wrong

What’re the levels for you? To me difference between one of the GOATs and a legend is not that huge…
DOOM is obviously a legend
Carved his own lane, excellent producer, made mysterious rap cool as hell and accessible
Madvillainy is one of those vinyls that's in every dorm room
Just because not every rapper sounds like one of the most singular figures in rap doesn't mean he wasn't influential

The truth about Drake stans is that Drake himself would hate a lot of their takes LMFAO
Yea it’s kinda funny cuz the music they slander as “scaring the hoes music” is the s*** Drake listen to lol
Mans quoted MF Doom, listens to Mach Hommy, did songs with Malice before the Push beef, listens to Griselda, rapped over Dilla and other niggas in that lane’s production
Drake a rap nerd and I promise you if he didn’t accept his role as the hit maker of his generation we would’ve absolutely have gotten an alchemist album from this nigga lol

Kanye is a GOAT and Jeezy is a legend

Not every legend birthed styles significantly tho if you’re gonna use that metric

I would argue doom helped birth a whole underground scene
Earl, anyone from slums, Griselda and affiliates, Alchemists current run, Armand Hammer etc.
A lot of that style came from doom(and Madlib of course)
Glad to hear Jim says it's all fun and games. Hope we get a real back and forth. Push is on the clock
Definitely. I really didn't think Jim would engage with this. Seeing him drop a track surprised me and he seems ready to go all the way.

Every real Drake fan knows he's a student of the game. That doesn't mean his fans have to like that exact brand of hip-hop.
There's enough styles and flavors of rap today to satisfy everybody and enough space to appreciate everyone for what they offer. This idea that anyone who isn't a fan of what many people might categorize as ''real'' hip-hop is somehow a fake fan doesn't help anything. People are free to like what they like.
nah he went crazy man
"Kanye gave you whips but thats what they do to slaves"
SINCE WHEN DID JIM JONES RAP LIKE THIS????
Since always

This is true but I don’t really take the opinion of someone who only listens to one type of hip hop that seriously
Especially if it’s someone that can’t even go back and listen to some classics and try and understand more of the genre

In all facets of things I think it’s great to be familiar with all kinds of music though. There’s a reason why we highlight albums like Illmatic, Madvillainy, Reasonable Doubt, Black on Both Side MBDTF, The Infamous, Stankonia, Rodeo, NWTS, etc.
This also goes for the old head mentality of ONLY liking s*** that came out in the 90s. It’s great to expand your taste to fully understand the different kinds of rap and sounds

Yeah, I mean different people will have different entry points to liking a genre of music.
This mentality that if you don't have a deep reverence for old school hip-hop, your appreciation for a genre is somehow fake is the exact reason why every white person who is a rap fan has the same top 5 and only claims to like old s***. Because they think liking new s*** means their love isn't genuine.
Just let people like what they wanna like. There's more than enough rap music to go around for everyone is what I'm saying.
