this song is about nothing lmaooAnd for years I felt like he was just a super watered down Dom Kennedy. Tried to get into him but it just sounds like he making music as a hustle, like generic background noise. Good beats, cool aesthetic and visuals but the actual music is just nothingness lol
The difference between Larry and Dom is basically the difference between NorCal and SoCal. To those that aren’t from Cali or hip they seem the same. Dom is more of a rapper than Larry imo, they both focus on “giving game” but Larry rapped more from a pimp’s perspective and hustle mindset than Dom did during each of their prime

Not all of his raps are so “monotone” tho I think he’s been more on that flow as of late but if you dig through his catalogue from really the start of his ascendence like 2018-2020 he would switch up his flow a lot more. He’s got songs where he’s flowing more on that “hyphy” Bay Area swag, he also grew up in the A so he has a Trap sound as well. But he just has a deep “moody” voice.
LacedYeah but they all kinda fell off after a certain point in the mid 2010s. That's where the continuation of the lane opened up for Larry. He gathered Cardo, DJ Fresh, Jillian, and started dropping s*** sonically on par with their primes. The s*** he talking is just player enough, and the catchy adlibs like numbers, ay ay ay, good job Larry, plus the whole "organic" thing let him put his own lil spin on it. It's not groundbreaking but I do get the appeal. I also live in LA so that might add why I f*** with it. But I was listening to him before I moved here too
He took over the “lifestyle rapper” lane fs, it’s a reason all of those rappers previously mentioned f*** with him.
