Really good album but some songs I always think about how I would've liked to hear finished Yandhi
Lowkey my favorite Ye era
Sunday service
Wyoming
Goat interviews
Iconic merch
The random pop up listening parties
The merch and whole Wyoming ranch was so crazy
saw him at sunday service in queens, then went to the album listening party, watched the snl rehearsal in fidi, and i saw the doc in lincoln square... amazing era for me
There was this one part in god is that he sang so raw and beautifully and then they edited it months later to “correct” that part and I really haven’t forgiven that
Album is mid but it's an okay kind of mid.
Songs don't sound fully fleshed out and Ye put way more effort into the Gospel sound in Jesus Is Born(Sunday Service album) than JIK which feels like wasted potential.
However, there's some decent tracks on here like Follow God, God Is, Use This Gospel, etc.
I think the main thing that made people hate on this album was Yandhi getting scrapped in favor of it and certain songs being inferior versions of the Yandhi tracks.
But my own hot take is that Yandhi might have been a worse album if it actually dropped because, while it'll have more bangers like New Body and Chakras on it, it also was supposed to have I Love It, Bye Bye Baby, and Simulation Baptize which were ass and lower lows than Water.
In retrospect, both this album and The Big Day were nowhere as horrible as people online and critics made it seem. And JIK's positive and warm vibes are preferable to the darker gooner vibes of the Vultures albums.
I'd take everything he's done since over this... yes, including cuck, bully, donda 2 and vultures 2, this was an absolute low point for him
i know multiple people who became atheists after hearing this

Jesus Is Born is also amazing.
Incredible gospel album
Jesus Is Born is also amazing.
Incredible gospel album
I agree.
He should've brought more actual Gospel on the album beyond the intro track.
still wish that dua lipa made it onto the final cut

but yeah leaks really ruined the perception of the album
Never understood the hate for this album. All of these songs are great.
I’m not getting into his personal affairs. Strictly talking about the music.
I know people heard a lot of these songs during the YAHNDI era, but that doesn’t take away from this. If you went into this album fresh from the leaks, this is a great piece of work. I think it even won a Grammy for gospel album of the year.
I definitely recommend giving this album a spin if you have any type of spiritual connection. Or if you just like positive music, this definitely serves it purpose.

You got: FOLLOW GOD, ON GOD, HANDS ON, AND EPIC CLIPSE REUNION : FROM THE CONCRETE GREW A ROSE
production was super solid & the album as a whole was very uplifting & purifying
With that said , when it first dropped :
Me: I just took my lunch break cannot wait to listen to this
@BAMSKI_backshots : brother you are better off getting that overtime
This coon had one job, release Water without ruining it
And he messed it, absolutely abysmal verse, rigid ass flow
'oh we gotta turn the album in tonight, uhhh I'll just do a bunch of run on sentences starting with Jesus'
Eff this 'Kid's First Day in Church' depth to its subject matter/writing ass album
