Idk about capitalism or socialism but we need Free healthcare, Free housing ( no one should be homeless in a first world country ) UBI, everything else can be capitalistic idc, social mobility is important so i feel like capitalism is still needed for that aspect

there is no social mobility in capitalism lol. perhaps you should examine how capitalism prevents those things that you say we need from happening and realize that these contradictions can't be resolved unless capitalism is overthrown

In theory, everyone has the chance to move up the ladder, it’s obviously never that black and white, many factors that come into play but in theory every single person, provided they put in enough effort can rise above poverty and move up the ladder. You can’t argue with that? So many kids born into immigrant families often do much better than their parents. I don’t see how social mobility would work in a socialistic country

what your saying just doesn't line up with reality. look into any study on social mobility, it is extremely low if not nonexistent and most of these studies dont even take into account the ever worsening conditions in the last couple years, not to mention just completely ignore exploitation abroad.

and just stop being obsessed with social mobility for a minute lmao. socialism will lead to a better distribution of wealth and resources to meet the material needs of the people and end exploitative social relations. that's all that matters

I don’t think it’s a myth, you can write this off as an anecdote but most of the people i know are children of immigrants and are doing very well for themselves, that’s a trend in most first world countries. I love the fact that this is possible, social mobility is one of the most important things for a person, that’s why i focus on it so much.

No, having their material needs met is whats important. Social mobility is a means to do that, that's all it is. And you can literally just look at the facts.
