ryuHThere are 2 things happening in society rn that are really sad:
1)the Information Age is giving a voice to the voiceless and exposing past crimes that were swept under the rug or normalized in previous eras and also giving people a platform to rally against predators and support victims which is GREAT but as a result people we have idolized our whole lives are having their legacies completely ruined by their own past actions and it’s just sad to see for all parties involved
2)the Information Age is also giving rise to alternative facts, fake news, and people who prey upon celebrities for their own personal gain or vengeful agendas because they know a lie/negativity spreads faster than the truth/positivity. Also they know human beings have a negativity bias in general so even if claims are made and disproven the allegations often sticks in the court of public opinion and the celebrity’s reputation is irrevocably damaged
The f***ed up thing is we the people never truly know which one of these scenarios is the truth
