bbq in a gas station served on newspaper is the only way
Yo I better leave this thread before I get to starving
i’ve been doing this thing where (this miiiiggghhhttt be ableton specific idk) but i use an audio effect rack where i have 2 chains. i take one chain and filter out everything below like 170 and put a pro l on that chain with 5 ms of look ahead and then then i leave the other chain filtered above 170 with no limiter
then to sum those two chains together i take a second pro l and glue the two chains together
thankfully, I know how to work ableton and already know how I could set this up in logic
ahh, makes sense. There’s definitely a certain privilege required to maintaining that sorta diet.
yeah its not easy
very much appreciated btw
right now, im focused on getting better at compression.
yeah that’s it’s own thing
i feel like i have trouble getting it right all the time - gulfoss is a good one if you’re trying to get techy

Look up Kenyan Smokey
That’s our side of the road food at any hour of the night from a random lemonade sized food stand on a drunken walk back to the crib or car. It’s heaven, especially when you add some spice. Observers who don’t know the country would look at you crazy for eating it lmaooo
It’s engrained in my genetics and if you saw my stats you’d think I love it too
No…no. I’m doing this for health, not the bragging rights lol
that’s the deal
is that the ai EQ thing?
no it’s just a really nice compressor to my knowledge. i’m not an ai in music production person i don’t think it sounds as good

i’ll occasionally take advantage of the AI mastering assistant in Logic because I don’t know how to do that s*** myself yet.

It’s all trial and error.
When u mixing do it on the place folks most likely to listen to music (e.g. use s***ty earbuds)
When u do it so long with your own voice that you’ve created a custom patch it makes signal flow so much faster and efficient

i mean you need a restaurant or comfort food sometimes when you cant cook
cheap vegan food with b12 is tough .... its not about protein so much as iron, b vitamins , omega 3s

It’s not about the gear but how you use it.
You can have waves and real actual compressors and sound less “mixed” than someone who’s only hardware is a focusrite.

I’ve gotten to a point now where I can evaluate how my rough mix is doing based off my laptop speakers. obv, ima go in and do things properly with headphones later on but still

I got mild scoliosis so I hate sitting in chairs. 99% of what I do is done on the couch with nothing but a macbook pro, headphones, and a mini midi keyboard.

Good portion of malibu was done on a f***ed up mic and that album is one of the greatest albums of the millennium.

Also get ozone (legally of course. Since as everyone knows we only get software legally, and only legally, would never bay myself in any pirates)

Madlib produced all of Bandana on an iPad

Personally, I use logic as my DAW of choice. I like to use the default compressor, it’s like blue and grey.
Threshold: -30 to -35
Ratio (depending on artist): 2.8:1 to 3.6:1
Makeup: don’t touch, or 5db
Knee: make that b**** deep, turn it all the way to the right
Attack: I like a short attack. Set it to 0
Release: kinda just keep it in the 150 - 200 range
Usually I’ll have just a compressor on my main vocal chain and then bus all my other s***
