doesn't really make for emotive or moving music though. that samurai record had no impact on me and had nothing really to say. something as simple as big baby jesus is way more memorable and lively to me, and I take that over recent lupe writing any day. he hasn't really hit for me in that way since T&Y

it's fire, some of his best writing ever and the execution on the concepts is top tier, and its definitely emotive content wise but idk... nothing about it makes me want to revisit really ever. I think it's how bloated and overly conceptual it is which is weird because T&Y is similarish length but doesn't feel nearly like that and I love going back to it. I'm gonna revisit though cus it's been a minute it might hit harder with some time passed. my point still stands though I think line for line jay's pen is more succinct, poetic, and emotive in a way few people's ever have been. he reminds me of Ka in that way. like he has one liners that bring me to tears sometimes
