The Age of Pleasure is a Blackity-Blackass album. It traverses the realms of music that are indisputably ours. This time, instead of sci-fi metropolises, Janelle leans into the worlds we live in. “It was inspired by all of my friends, my community of folks who are from South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, the Caribbean, Atlanta, L.A., Chicago,” Janelle says. “Seeing all of us together in our Blackness, in the love that we had in our eyes for each other. People from the continent f*** around with trap from Atlanta. You know what I’m saying? I love how the diaspora — we talk to each other.”
“This album is not about a fight,” she says of The Age of Pleasure. “It’s about living in an oasis created by us for us. Even with everything going on in the world, this is our moment to breathe together, unapologetically taking this beat to enjoy — to hurry up and live.”

black queen
if you couldn't tell by the singles the album is very Caribbean influenced and has a tropical/reggae sound to it...subject matter is just pretty one dimensional and gets a little old idk...maybe not the right environment to listen in
hmmmm. hmm.
I'm about to play it but this thread got me worried

easily her worst album IMO...I'm actually upset I don't like it more
Listened to it at a record store off a couple rum/tequila drinks, it definitely hit the spot atm
another?
She ain’t been interesting since electric lady, which was honestly just a fine record. Pretty big quality dip from Archandroid

people just need to take a break from seriousness and letting loose with the music
so many of these songs don't even feel like songs they're so short and undeveloped, all style no substance
This is not bad like this thread is making it out to be
This was a solid listen for me not sure what y’all are on. Not mind blowing. But definitely not bad by any means. The short length is perfect for this one. 7/10 for me
the songs definitely bleed into each other, not necessarily a bad thing tho
solid album
Still a solid album.
very smoooooth, i like it not as good as her other albums but still very enjoyable perfect for the summer
