That's what kpop groups do. It actually makes more money. So idk why they don't do it here.

it’s not overblown but you’re also right. the problem you described is just infinitely worse now

There will always be people who will check out the rest of an artists catalouge if they like a song they hear on tiktok

That's why many artists in damn near every genre of music have been able to build a fanbase after one of their songs blew up on tiktok. It's really not as bad as some people think and it's still 100x better than the radio era for artists.

  • Mar 3, 2024

Tyler always b****ing and being pretentious

Critics really got him thinking his art more special than everyone elses lol

if you saying “change it to something else” then i agree but you can’t change capitalism. it’s working 100% as intended. “changing” it is just turning it into something else

you’re very good at this I respect u

would you mind providing examples of the artists you’re talking about and their music? genuinely curious as i don’t use tiktok but damn near every single artist ive ever heard blow up from TikTok has been actual ass aside from pinkpantheress ig

All forms of media are so f***ed

The people at the top are profiting and raping artists and milking every penny they can out of consumers

Everything is becoming a shell of itself

I really don’t see this getting fixed until the artists do something drastic and take the power back

It’s even worse for aspiring artist who have to commodify themselves out of the gate in order to get any semblance of attention

this. my ktt1 niggas understand all this already no need to tell us

how do you suggest that happens? if you have any idea of course. only thing i could possibly think of that would do it is unionizing/embracing of Marxist ideals in general for artists wanting to be in solidarity tbh

This why we shoulda been supportive about congress tryna get rid of tiktok

If they weren't asking dumbass questions they might have got the job done

  • Mar 3, 2024

the only artists i see mad about this anywhere like in his comments are ones that make exactly the type of music tiktok prefers (read: doodoo)

This is rich coming from James Blake lol, you can sum up his discography pretty well in the length of a tiktok. Your whole discography sounds like a 15 second clip repeating so what’s the issue

20 replies no likes is too funny

  • Grenouille

The second post is really interesting. Pretty slimey point about Godspeed being an “original sound” in all those tiktoks — like James says the artist isn’t profiting from that other than people knowing you as ‘that guy who made that one song’

tiktok will link it back to the original song if the song is on streaming

  • BlueDream

Once I saw that sped up and slowed down songs started to blow up more that the original song, I knew it was over for the music industry

And now artists are dropping those sped up versions on streaming because that’s what the kids wanna hear. Their attention spans are cooked

they’re doing it to cut out the middleman so they don’t get these kinds of situations lol

in the event where an “original sound” of a record being sped up doesn’t end up getting content id’d the label just does it themselves
