Jai Paul’s leftovers from 2007 and 2010 got a 8.9 from Pitchfork, industry wide acclaim and literally birthed a new wave of electronic artists around the world, gotten co-signs from music greats like Thom Yorke & Arca but yes, go on about how those “tapes” aren’t enough.

Bro is your favourite artist’s favourite artist.

You lost me on using p4k ratings as benchmark lol

Just bc PND isn't a Pitchfork artist doesn't mean his projects weren't groundbreaking and innovative

    Y'all sound mad ignorant

    Lol I was right @threetwentysix

nowadays pitchfork is no one's standard for an artist being "good", so let's not even do that. it's just an easy way to give someone a pass for being a painfully average musician.

idk what innovation you're hearing in pnd's music, that man's music is as bland as wonder bread. i would rather listen to a hundred jai paul songs than half a pnd song.

There's nothing "bland" about PND. If you haven't even begun to get into him as an artist you can't really speak on his music.

P1-3, the COLOUR EP's and the loosies from those years were great and innovative music.

I like Jai Paul's music a lot and back in the day I had this phase where I was crazy about his music, so my perspective is someone who understands both artists. I'll take 5-6 projects over one.

Sure, you may not respect Pitchfork’s opinion but the idea is that a project that was practically put together and sequenced by hackers managed to be as influential as it was whilst simultaneously influencing an entire generation of producers and receiving acclaims from blogs and legends alike.

Jai already started making waves with his 2 singles, received acclaim and got sampled by Drake way before the demo leak

That leak was actually a bad thing to happen and it f***ed with him so much mentally that he needed therapy

PARTY's first two albums were very influential anyway, the critics slept on their significance and couldn't keep up with the youth movement just like what happened with MOTM1+2.

The better artist is the one who was able to drop finished projects consistently in this case. Having a decent work ethic is a part of what makes you good.

  • Oct 20, 2020

PND is goated, let's not take away from him but this shouldn't even be an argument, anyone saying PND clearly doesn't know nothing about music. Jai's artistry and musicianship is next level. Party is a very talented writer and producer but he couldn't compose a timeless classic like Jasmine, or Str8 outta Mumbai.

Ok then ignore PND's run and keep stanning a demo tape that has a mystery gimmick attached to it.
