Kevin Shields said they're gonna drop a new project like 2 years ago what's up with that
Ppl still attributing P2s influence to weeknd 🥱
PND himself said the weeknd created that wave when he apologised to him

I mean 9/10 being disappointing is a high bar.
My only thing to say abs I need you to be honest if possible.
Imagine they dropped M B V in 91 and then Loveless in 2013.
I 100% think people wouldn’t be able to differentiate it beyond crispness of audio (which kinda detracts from the sound ironically)

Yeah it was only disappointing because the bar was so high
Which is a running theme in this thread
Outside of contextual factors, it’s great, so I enjoy it. But in discussing it, I’m faced with context

I actually do agree with Spacey though.
Loveless is a better album objectively and even better with context.
But I wouldn’t say M B V was disappointing.
Loveless is IMO the greatest album ever so having arguably AOTY 2013 is still incredible.

For sure
I’m happy Kevin was able to incorporate Jungle into his project eventually. Read he always had a thing for it. Just wish we could have heard that Loveless follow up that was scraped that was fully Jungle inspired

I think it was label pressure and burnout.
Label didn’t want to fund it cause too expensive and then obviously trying to live up to loveless.
Same thing with Smile with the Beach Boys. God only knows what could have been. Although I did like the Presents Smile compilation from a few years ago
Because I’m a sad b**** and Party makes sad b**** music
“I listen to Lil Pump more than Mozart but I won’t say Pump is the better artist”
pumps not mozart
jai paul and pnd are very similar
producer/singers making alt rnb in the soundcloud era
mozart was a classically trained musician/composer from the 1700s who spent years writing his music
lil pump was a 16 year old kid from florida who'd freestlye his sons in 15 minutes and mozart doesn't have anything as good as d rose

PND debut - 2013
Jai Paul debut - 2007
Jai was part of the MySpace era, not SoundCloud
This comparison is truly stupid
The rest of your post is facts though

Jahron B. wasn't MySpace's
secret weapon?
16 pages for what?
apples and oranges, people are obviously just going to say who they prefer rather than make points on why one's better than the other
also this comparison makes zero sense loool
great discussion everybody. thank you for the insightful takes
at the end of the day they're 2 talented kings
There's nothing "bland" about PND. If you haven't even begun to get into him as an artist you can't really speak on his music.
P1-3, the COLOUR EP's and the loosies from those years were great and innovative music.
I like Jai Paul's music a lot and back in the day I had this phase where I was crazy about his music, so my perspective is someone who understands both artists. I'll take 5-6 projects over one.
I have listened to these projects before when they released and I can't remember a single f***ing note from any of them cause it blends in so inoffensively into the entire moody r&b genre.
I'll give you that it might be "great", cause that's subjective, even if I don't agree. But "innovative"...nah I'm cool on that claim.

It is what it is. Sometimes you can't enjoy something bc it doesn't match your expectations, or you are not in the mood, or it's simply not for you.
But PND is indeed an influential and respected artist, people like Kanye and Drake understand his worth.
