I think I fell in love with the idea of someone (in the industry) stumbling across your work and wanting to help an unknown artist out. I've made it onto some blogs but blogs on their own never helps someone to make a career. When you don't make music, it's easy to think that if you make dope enough music it'll be heard and/or you'll get a fanbase. That isn't the reality of it - in fact you need connections and money for promotion for people to even bother really investing serious time/money into your art. All the "indie" artists (Clairo, Cuco, Gus Dapperton etc.) were basically planted by industry.

What pushed me into music was the idea of making great enough music to make a fanbase - but that seems to be a fantasy; everyone with a big fanbase all had industry help before it happened - and not before. So that's kind of ruined my passion for releasing music.

yea thats not how it works man. if thats what u want outta music, u gotta make connections, get out there and take a bunch of Ls, financially, emotionally, and socially. but my guy this is where we left off 2 years ago you gotta make some moves my man. i remember u saying u booked some live shows. did you do those?

same with me tbh i gotta get myself out there, but tbh im a lucky person for multiple reasons. i have a foot in the game by default. but either way. im just tryna make the best s*** i can make for myself, its always music first for me so i dont really consider it a problem until i actually put myself out there physically.

Yep did 2 live shows and 3 more open mics. The first one was cool then I kind of was like "fuck am I doing singing to backing tracks" so stopped lol.

One of my songs made it to a compilation that was reviewed by pitchfork - but nothing happened since then

im so f***in scared yet excited to perform for the first time. i gotta perform on a backing track as well. i do want to have a budget, minimalist stage production tho so its not just me standing still lol.
