So I just came from Jai’s concert in Paris. Drove 3h30 to see him, and am about to drive 3h30 back, at 11pm in the evening. So it was a BIG deal for me to go and see him. Cost me more than 100€, not counting the ticket to the concert. I was very hyped since I’m literally a day one fan.
Well let me tell you it was a huge letdown. The 3 friends who came with me share the same feeling.
Fabiana was opening and took the stage 30min after the scheduled time. It was a lovely set. She did like 7 songs, played the keyboard and handled the sound effects and samples herself. Small body but great voice! Really really tight.
But then Jai came like 45min after Fabiana’s set. We were a bit annoyed by the wait but we joked that since we had been waiting 10 years for this, a couple more minutes wouldn’t hurt.
So Jai finally arrived. Fabiana was on the keyboard, AK on the bass , what could go wrong? Well in fact to us Jai did not display much energy, he seemed pretty confident and at times even full of himself, but from the beginning we suspected he was singing fully in playback, or most of the time. The backing band, full of talent as it was, couldn’t bring the songs to life like how they feel on the album, it felt a bit bland and cacophonous, the weird mixing didn’t help. Jai’s set was 45-50min tops. He ended with Str8 Outta Mumbai, with much fanfare, but the public didn’t clap for an encore. I guess the feeling was universal lol… Anyway I’m feeling very sore and frustrated!
By the way the ticket to the concert was 36€. That’s quite pricy for a concert in France, and frankly it was not worth it. And if you’re wondering, yes it was sold out. Here’s my two cents!

Was there too!
About the encore, the audience was expecting one, but the gig turned on the lights and the ambiance music as soon as his set ended so it meant from the start that no encore was coming so that's why people didn't clap for one.

We did think that one was coming and everyone rushed back to the stage just to get disappointed
MAN REALLY SWAPPED ZION WOLF FOR I CARE SMHHHHH
WAITED FOR THAT ONE ALL EVENING
My ex went to the London show somewhere earlier this year and said thats her fav show oat, this one was GOOD but not the mindblowing experience I anticipated after seeing all of her videos. Crowd was alright, nobody was really singing along around me lol. Mumbai shouldve went insane after seeing how London reacted to it. Thats his hometown though so I get it
I’ll post some videos tomorrow if I dont forget
Also no vinyl this time :(
I was there too ! I had a great time except for my friend that decided to be mad at me for no reason at all

Honestly this is kind of what I expected once he start doing these live shows and seeing some of the videos. Some of those records are simply so intricate and layered that they can't be reproduced live.
How are the wait times usually for concerts where you are though? Cause in the US, 30 and 45 minutes is pretty standard if not light lol

Killua gets a lil moody sometimes
I mean to respond to you all who shared their respective feelings of the Paris show, it was correct in terms of execution, however what frustrated us is that the show felt rushed, probably because they had to finish quickly since they had started late… and also Jai barely uttered a word in between songs, bruh could have talked to us, maybe crack a joke or something. I don’t know, I might have conceived very high expectations and it probably affected my apprehension of the whole thing too.
As for the waiting times, the thing was that the show didn’t start on schedule, so the wait between Fabiana and Jai felt more annoying than it should’ve, but usually in France, for a concert venue this size, yeah it’s usually 30min in between artists I reckon?

Nah the beats were literally insane in live form IMO. That part I cant complain about. I just hate how Jai sings Crush live, its like hes talking on the beat

Oh yeah when they did that fakeout and turned the music off for 30 seconds and then turned it back on again

I also think the band was really solid, the drums were insane and the band was pretty good I thought overall the show was great

yeah the drummer was very good and sounded super hard, it really added a great knock to the songs, I agree on that!
however one of my friends didn’t know Jai at all and therefore had never heard any of his songs. He told us that if it wasn’t for us and for Jai’s reputation, he would’ve left early, and also that anybody who was a stranger to his music and found themselves at that concert would have turned into a fan by hearing the songs live, save for BTSU and Mumbai
The Berlin concert was f***ing legendary, wow.
It was.
Got confused with the paris review above.
Loved it.
