shaleiroseI don’t understand why artists don’t just do like a 24 hour open pre-order and then press exactly how many orders they get.
That way the artist makes more money and every fan has an entire day to buy one if they want to without having to worry about it selling out

I really don’t get what the artists get out of making stuff extremely limited like this.
They’re hurting themselves by reducing the amount of money they can potentially make and also screwing over fans who aren’t able to get a copy because resellers buy them in bulk and flip them for egregious amounts

Yeah Cohered and Cambria just dropped a record with 2500 copies that sold out in one minute making them like 75K but they could have easily sold out 3 times that and made a lot more cash.
It's really strange to me that as hyped as vinyl is. Maybe there is a limit as far as pressing goes for smaller artists?

I would assume budgetary reasons being the biggest factor but an open, timed pre-order would literally negate that problem because artists would know exactly how many copies had to be pressed

Seems like there's a limited amount of individuals who do it, and larger artists take a large chunk of those folks's time and resources
