2wordsThe confusion likely comes from the 3rd verse being a little bit wishy washy/unclear in the point it’s making. When it starts feeling like the “when s*** hits the fan are you still a fan” talk, obviously he’s not defending the people but his stance is pretty unclear on how he feels about it. Like it’s almost like part of him is saying he still should be “ride or die”. Which I guess is because he’s conflicted about losing friends like that but it’s not communicated perfectly

i don't think he's saying he's conflicted at all, moreso just saying the people you came up with aren't always going to be the same people their entire lives and when push comes to shove you have to take them out of your life completely. it's not like he's being hesitant about cutting these people out moreso just saying "they gotta go"

I think it just fell a little flat and has been done way better. I respoect the effort and the album as a whole is really good, but idk that song just missed for me. Dont know where the condoning is coming from though, Definitely didnt take that away from it.

I don’t think you’re wrong overall but here’s a line

Out of this context usually if you hear a line like this or rhetoric like this, it’s more so on some “when s*** hits the fan is you still a fan” talk. Like, that’s fake love, no loyalty, type of talk. Same with the idea of “ride or die til it ain’t” it’s like usually that would mean something else
my interpretation is he’s kind of struggling with the idea of loyalty and the limit of loyalty and that’s why he put those lines in, but I see how it would confuse people a little. My first listen I was just like why say this part

i think they're talking about the pressure that can come from feeling like you have to "stick up" for your brothers in situations like these
it's talked about a lot how frequently men are outed as rapists and their boys just live with that knowledge without doing anything because "that's gang"
