You talking about the homecoming angle on FHD ?
It's technically about leaving to pursue his dream but there's a melancholy to it: something he hasn't replicated since. You can tell his connection to his hometown through that. At least it resonated with me there more than on this album. Plus Love Yourz, nothing is beating that jawn

You know what...as a man I will always be willing to admit when I'm wrong about something. You really shouldn't try to cement an opinion on something off of one listen. As I spend more time with the album, and even though a lot of my initial issues are still present (some songs drawn out, too much leaning on homage, some of the singing heavy tracks aren't my thing, s*** is too long imo, some songs lack depth), I am finding myself enjoying this a lot more, especially riding out to it.
I think I read someone here say he should have did like Tyler and Jpegmafia and called this s*** trash so that the expectations are tempered, and while I don't think it gotta be all that, I do think he set this album up to have an unrealistic bar that I unfortunately fell into mentally. It made me listen to everything extra critically. Now that the hype and expectation have worn off, I honestly like this more than anything he has done since probably FHD.
I'm going to keep that in mind for every album I listen to from now on unless it's just dog s*** trash. Some s*** just needs a little time to connect. People laughed at Game's review system, but I actually think he was on to something. Sometimes you might need more than one listen and sometimes you might have to approach those listens with different perspectives.
Still not THE GREATEST S*** EVER but definitely a solid enjoyable album. And I still don't get the Let Out hate lol that s*** been stuck in my head.
Also, I low key think this might better than GNX (but it has higher highs than this) lol ima give it more time though.
People are finally waking up to how good this album is.

FHD definitely had that element and homecoming narrative and Love Yourz is probably his best song. But I look at the story arcs and messaging between FHD, Disc 29 and Disc 39 very differently.
Might have do a long write up, but Disc 29 is probably even more melancholic and depressing than FHD imo. And his feelings on his hometown is just very different than how he views it on FHD

they massive cole fans so it aint surprising
im ashamed to admit i know that about them
We need an album rating voting system on here that doesn’t go live until like a week after the drop

this album is very good, but it aint touching damn.
i already find myself skipping quite a handful of songs on here. which i get it expected for a double album, but it gotta test time before its compared to albums like that lol
@Silas I'm coming around on The Let Out but that hook unforgivable
OOOOOOOOOH WE WILL SURVIVE THE LEEETT OUUUUUT
Still cant believe the end of Legacy and Hit The Gas I see what he meant when he said it feels like heaven opening up when he writes
TFO is not touching MM&TBS as double albums, but I could see taking TOS over GNX pretty easily.
Mr Morale is the weakest of the three
Joe Budden dumb as f*** for not getting the point of Quik Stop what a powerful song that him of all people should relate but I remember he was chasing those kids in Jersey so nvm
