Ultimately its sequencing and bloat that brings them both down. Drake's achilies heel

FHD forsure had a homecoming story to it but it was more about him grounding himself after dealing with Hollywood.
Disc 29 picks up right after FHD, where he starts realizing he had an idealized version of Home that just ain't there anymore and he starts having the same realization about music

exactly! This is my issue with FATD. I’m listening to the first half like damn this s*** is a mess but then he gets into his melodic bag at 7969 Santa and by Bahamas Promises I’m like okay nigga, where tf was this track 1-7 cause this all quality right now and I’m coooool on Drake’s singing lol
it really became apparent to me when I was at the airport waiting to get on a flight (ironically to the Bahamas) and Bahamas Promises came on…I was like yea this nigga needs to fix his sequencing ASAP cause the album coulda just started at 7969 Santa + the back half + bonus songs and be a top Drake project smdh that s*** was hitting my entire flight just in my mind with his melody’s and topics/lyrics. idk why he be bloating s***, throws off the quality that is there
