Okay I’ve listened 5 times now. This really good. I think he set the bar way to high unfortunately and like WTT, expectations were impossible to meet in the moment maybe time will be kind to this like it was to that.

Also sadly hiphop is in a nihilistic ragebait reaction era + the Kendrick stuff did him no favors. This was bound to not be given the time to listen past the 3 first three songs let alone whole project multiple times. You can barely watch a movie ONE time to fully digest the point so i dont know how tf we can expect the same from an album with no visual element. Anyway Cole has done a great job of building a community so I dont think he cares and this is gonna do numbers.

Lastly i see a lot of FHD comparisons and I dont think this is that at all. He brought The Come Up a lot when promoting this and its clear this is a continuation of that story / concept with some experimental twists. I don’t think he was going for commercial appeal. This is Backpacker storytelling on steroids.

I'm confused how Disc 1 is the album he's been hyping up for years? you telling me he's been working on it for this long? that's the album we would've gotten if the beef didn't happen?

Poor Thang, Drum N Bass & Lonely at the Top are probably the only songs from Disc 1 I will return to the rest is pretty forgettable, Disc 2 has better songs and more fleshed out ideas

I tried to stay away from KTT and online in general. Did a full listen top to bottom yesterday in one go. What an album! Cole really did well with this one. I really enjoyed my first listen.

Listened to 1st disc again this morning and started 2nd now.

Album is pretty solid so far. Initial impressions so far:

Disc 1 9/10
Disc 2 8.5/10

Have to be in a certain environment and mood for this album

Disc 2 you have the intro beat switch, inevitable, the villest, old dog, life sentence (i know a lot of y'all hate it but it's more enjoyable than most songs on disc 1), man up above, i love her again, what if, quick stop, and the whole world is the ville

Disc 2 is almost flawless to me, Disc 1 on the other hand.......
