had time to listen to the entire album on my drive into work
minus one song, disc 1 was really solid for me. was not expecting lonely at the top to be the song that i loved the most but that s*** had me spin it back 3 times straight
by the time i got to disc 2, based on what i read on here and on twitter, i absolutely expected to be disappointed by it. figured since i liked disc 1 so much, there had to be a drop off. but nope, disc 2 was waaaaay better imo. honestly could’ve done with a better intro for starters. inevitable still sounds fresh for me despite me almost over playing it. life sentence completely broke me. had me reflecting on my girl right now and all the things i had to do to get her. the ups and downs of our relationship. she’s a cole stan (like og cole stan, not that fake s***) so i know we’ll share a bond over that record. man up above had me reflect on where im from, niggas deadass had shoot outs every west indian parade, him saying that was so relatable. i love her again.. man, phenomenal record. he mentioned something about getting older and listening to hip hop less and that s*** really hit me cause i feel like that has been happening to me without me consciously making that decision. what if was dope off the strength of what we saw 2 years ago & we can tell how that s*** affected him enough to make this pov type of track. quik stop & and the whole world is the ville had me reflect on who i was and where i was when i first got into cole’s music and how i’d always rush to his s*** whenever i was goin through something
overall, this is not a perfect album but this is the album i wanted from him. so glad he didnt try to chase or force hits on this. thats clearly not his lane anymore
Bro works in another state
I think for me the thing is...
If you're gonna drop lines like "It's like Hov dropping Reasonable Doubt last" for a decade, how do you not come with your BEST beats? I don't think there's a single beat where I was like "Damn this is a top 5 Cole beat"
And same thing with the writing. How do you not come with your best concepts, highest energy, most potent bars. There was nothing that didn't just feel like a standard Cole song first listen
I'm probably falling victim to the hype, it's a decently solid album but for this to be the album he's been talking about for a decade just feels like a dud
Jcole is good at storytelling but his stories aren’t good.
A good story has highs and lows, tragedy, triumphs and all other emotions evoking elements.
He has the best concepts in the game, is the best at rapping skill wise but lacks the passion because of his bland story.
SAFETY - is such a good concept but fails to be great like a STAN was because the story doesn’t lend for any climaxes.
THE LET OUT - Again a great concept and perfectly set up with DRUM AND BASS but again falls flat. Because of weird musical choices but also a story with no real climax.
the story he told on verse 2 of man up above is beat for beat the same story he told in that Stay song, and even back then it wasnt that interesting
I'm gonna try listening to disc 1 only and then later only disc 2 maybe more of it will click idk
Is it me or and the whole world is the ville kinda lil idk flat for an ending for your ““final album?””
he absolutely did more talking about this than he needed to. we did not need the memos or explanation in hindsight
In typical cole fashion, we’ll never hear the song that made niggas vocally lose their mind in that might delete later vlog video lololol
Friggin knew it
Second everyone who says he needs an AR. Yes. And features. He is so afraid of maximizing his potential it’s insane
Hopefully the retirement is just from this era of his music that is way too focused on doing everything himself

I've only heard disc 1 so far and that's kinda my take. Theres good songs but nothing that's mind blowing that I gotta go back and hear it again and again like I've done with other artists. FHD was the last album that did that for me if we speaking about cole
