At this point it's clear why Cole decided to opt out of the battle. He clearly got excited and wanted to be involved as he is a good rapper and therefore also competitive but he thought that they would keep it at rap. Naive? Yes. Too rash? Yes. But we can't be mad at Cole if he realized that the person he was battling was more interested in hurting people in Cole's life rather than him as a rapper.

We can criticise him for his naivety and the hasty decision but let's face it, everyone has done something they later regretted.
