Nothing about that album feels experimental to me I guess? It all goes back to rap and jazz. Just feels like a album that needs multiple listens to grasp the concepts kendrick was trying to put out there.
I just mean from a sonic standpoint. Bruh there’s random ass poem interludes, “live performances” with heckling audience members, Kendrick screaming at himself, and Kendrick conversing with a man that’s been dead for 20+ years. Pretty far cry from Views from the 6 or fhd
the 'stickz n stonez -> Pi -> stealth mode' 3 track run is crazy. all of those beats are perfect for him
alchemist producing on it fire
only thing bringing down the cole diss is him showing too much love to kendrick. idc if you used to f*** with him nigga don't say that s*** on the song
Calling To Pimp a Butterfly a snooze fest is a CRAZY take
Yeah I ain’t f***ing with that
I actually listened to the album in order but now that I actually heard the diss...kinda disappointed ngl lol but as others said it's likely a warning shot if Kendrick responds with something better I would hope Cole does the same
Yo 7 minute track abruptly ending (i wasnt looking at the length of these tracks) i gotta take points off ngl.
It was a good diss but I can’t find a line in his diss that was honestly better then 2-3 of the ones from Like That.
And honestly the discography talk is just gonna put some negative attention on Cole. You calling TPAB sleepy when you did a poor man’s version of it with 4YEO?
especially when like that wasn't even a full blown diss track. was more of just an "i'm untouchable" verse with some lil digs n it still made this big of an impact
i don't think cole can do much better than this corny s*** but kendrick clearly has a lot left in the tank
I completely forgot the off season even came out until I went to his AM page to pull this up
It’s funny because Cole got 2 songs on there bigger than anything Kendrick has done this decade outside of Like That
Everyone just lives in their own bubble
I thought we was getting 7 minutes of bars ngl @CliCity
Calling To Pimp a Butterfly a snooze fest is a CRAZY take
It’s like he couldn’t really think of anything else to say for it lmfao

Hes too soft to truly come at him with malice, this is as good as it gets but its so obvious its bait for Kendrick to respond so then Drake feels compelled to get involved

Calling To Pimp a Butterfly a snooze fest is a CRAZY take
crackhead take honestly...TPAB a f***in masterpiece
I don't want to have to actually listen to this album and get the usual album Cole horseshit im ngl lol
i just saw someone seriously say that travis scott is a better rapper than j cole itt...

This is a wild post ngl lol

I don’t think it was a bad diss
I just think Cole spent too much time trying “son” him with the discography bars when he was big capping on the whole thing. Like Cole does not have the discography to be talking s*** like that, period.
He should’ve come at him more about his feature game being better, mocking his voices, height etc.
