Thatâs the problem. Yâall call anything more than the bare minimum âcritic baitâ or âwhite baitâ. Shouldnât we want more from our artists?
Complex art is not reserved for white audiences
They shallow and like shallow raps so anything with substance is white critic bait. Niggas really need to grow tf up smh.
But also the beat holds him back
https://twitter.com/derez/status/1776176200211460390Nah this just shows even more how weak of a diss it was
just delete the whole thing because the diss was the best song. and i said this on release night, not because of him backing down.
might need The Fall Off by the end of this year too just to clean up this stain a bit. yikes.
niggas want negativity so bad im amazed
I commend Cole. Knows who he is, where he's from and where he wants to go. Peace is the only goal.

Unless it's random transgender people
Explain. This bout the line on Pi?
I didn't think take that as something meant to be offensive to trans people. Is there something I'm missing there?

Basic reading comprehension?

I am using it and I don't find offense in the lines, therefore, I am asking you to point it out to me if there's something that I'm missing there.
No need to question my ability if you would rather not take the time to help me see what you supposedly see.

So you think he's calling someone transgender as a compliment? The rest of the bar is "being transgender is fake".
The whole mechanic of the punchline is transphobia. As far as the punchline makes sense at all. It barely does.

Do you know what genre you listen to?
Bad s*** is constantly said by rappers. They like to discriminate, they're conservative, mostly very christian, very pro-capitalism, they look down on the poor, women, lgbtiq etc

Cole's reputation is so much different than the average rapper. He's got a brand that falls apart if you actually listen to his raps. The dissonance is the interesting part. The bigotry is par for the course unfortunately.

Imagine being a trans fan of j cole and hearing âbtw behind that CHOSEN IDENTITY d***, is still a p****â
Itâs obviously a simple punchline about someone being a b****/a p**** etc but it doesnât work without transphobia.
And putting Coleâs character into the context I doubt he actively discriminates or is bigoted towards trans people but that is a transphobic bar pretty plainly

It's literally like a Cassidy punchline from 2004
"I make you d***s turn p****" etc
Except he made it weird and verbose like Ben Shapiro. Like it only exists to be read as a statement. It's not a good bar!

I don't see anything wrong with being transgender, so calling someone one, or rather, using the concept of transgenderism to set up a punchline as necessarily offensive.
Using the concept of transgenderism to set up wordplay and punchlines is not the same thing as calling someone a transgender tf? lol
