NujaI don’t agree with OP’s tone but there is “slight” truth to this. One critic I have about this album despite loving it is the fact we are 6 albums in and he’s still regurgitating the same s*** about having to grow scrapping first couple times clapping cheeks, etc. it’s relatable in some instances, but I feel like I hear it every album
It’s because he’s uninteresting, plain simple. Everyone just wants to tap dance around it and word it nicely due to fear from Cole’s VERY vocal fan base.
But can we really dismiss a whole decade of the same complaints? Where there’s smoke there’s fire

jcole definitely not a creative person nor does he have the ability to push a genre forward. he kinda did that with forest hills drive but otherwise no.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not a Cole hater. I preordere FHD and it’s the only Cole album I own/can listen to. Enough is enough at some point though. Dude’s career is just extremely lackluster to me

j cole isn’t on some insane narrative tbh but i feel like he got an honesty and transparency that some artists don’t
like he’s not hiding from a lot of s***
