There’s nothing weakly structured about these flows. These are way beyond what even a skilled rapper could come up with on these beats. The way he elevates these old beats with his modern flow is actually crazy. This is absolutely elite, 20s Cole is the best rapper skill wise ever and reducing it to lyrical miracle is weak imo

I feel like The Fall Off is going to attempt alot of s***, i'm expecting it to be a rap epic. I'm excited to hear this s***

For how long we expect the album to be, I'm really curious to see what Cole ends up doing with it.

The raps are good no doubt but y’all acting like this the craziest s*** ever lmao

It’s just some cool throwaway freestyles very few people are ever gonna go back to. It’s fine if people acknowledge that

    They are beyond good man

If you don’t have the ears for it I just don’t respect your ability to dechiper raps respectfully and I’m not just talking about the ā€œbarsā€ or words that are being said I’m talking about schemes flows setups delivery wordplay wittiness it’s really an iykyk type of thing that simple

All that other s*** is irrelevant and real niggas who like rap DEFINITELY returning to this and putting it in rotation you can bet on that

This album needs to be a mix of Born Sinner and FHD but with a more mature Cole

It’s like real MCs are proving that they’re not part of this new Carti/Yachty/Gunna/Baby generation, so they go extra heavy on the bars - which I get.

But it’s like they’re going overboard.

There needs to be a happy medium

there’s a blend between bars and the melodic s***

baby can rap btw he’s just not the best songwriter

This is some victim mentality s*** if I've ever seen it. No one is expecting Cole to make a 10-week #1 smash hit or a bubble gum pop song. He's made records in the past that had him doing him and they worked. That's all some people wanna see him do again.

Y'all love acting like records don't matter if you're a mainstream rapper or if you're J. Cole but they always have and they always will. The reason why he still hasn't dropped an album that's stacked up to 2014 FHD in the eyes of the casual mainstream rap listener is because of a lack of records on his albums over the last 12 years.

Niggas making excuses like Drake and Kendrick ain’t rapping they ass off on some of their biggest and most accessible tunes. Bro is rapping his ass off on Nice For What and that’s a simple ass song, other bro is rapping his ass off on TV Off and that’s a west coast banger

Doing that is way more impressive from a technical standpoint than this Cole s***. The nerve of him and his surface brained easily impressed ass fans to equate him with the 90s greats cause of nicely dressed pandering - when those greats could rap impressively and make great songs at the same time

Drake and Kendrick are way closer to the spirit of hiphop than this f***ing pander merchant could ever be. Nigga is in a perpetual state of wondering if he let Nas down

Yup as far as a complete rapper primes it’s 97 big and 2026 j Cole probably as the goat forms ever. There’s obviously more but Cole is really goku. And no whatever rapper that’s more lyrical is not better because the flows and cadence and delivery aren’t there

But pulling off a double album is difficult without great production

I hope he branched out to more outside production esp from super producer types. He way too talented and popular to not have that reach

  • Nix

A lot of it doesn't make sense tho. He's far from broke and his tour numbers are fine.

Drake is exponentially richer than Cole, has a better deal than Cole, owns his albums, has made a lot more money off touring than Cole. I don't know how those are meant to be shots aimed at Drake but niggas always gotta reach when it comes to Drake and make everything about him (this, despite Cole insisting he had no issues with Drake on Port Antonio lol).

  • Ok I’m relistening… he didn’t diss Kendrick but I feel like Kendrick might spin his block for all this best rapper s*** lol
