KOD above SS?
SS is literally his worst f***in album, s*** is super boring and nothing redeemable about it. At least KOD has an interesting concept and some bangers
Hov really f***ed Cole's debut
fnl would been one of his best albums
Are you telling me that was supposed to be his debut album?
that completely s***s on sideline story

The thing that’s good about Sideline Story it has some high highs on it like legitimately some of Coles best records are on it. But it also has some of Coles worst records. Yes it’s his least cohesive album and least thought out album. But I think it has more replay value and is a more enjoyable listen than KOD for me. KOD by far a better concept and message but music wise I didn’t go back to it as frequent as other Cole albums.

Heard its his label actually, they wanted him to make more radio type songs or whatever. The only thing HOV did was push the release date by a week to get his verse in
The Fall Off is his grand finale when he’s hanging it up, this is the project before that
rappers never actually retire
I know some people on here like Born Sinner or 4YEO best, but neither album can reach the highs of FHD I’m sorry.
I mean the majority of the tracklist is absolutely great
Intro
January 28th
03 Adolescence
Tale Of 2 Citiez
Fire Squad
G.O.M.D
No Role Modelz
Apparently
Love Yourz
Great stuff man. He really was on one during this album.
his best imo. FHD made me a coke fan

Yep a mix of some of the ss songs and the original songs on FNL, hov and label didn't think it would sell well tho, so they scraped it and he dropped it to feed his fanbase.
His career trajectory might of been different if it was his debut
wouldn't have let nas down
Real, 4yeo is way over hated on here
Yeah I never understood the hate for it. The title track might be his best song

S*** made me fall in love with Cole
He would’ve been even bigger, which is wild to even consider

Hov wanted him to have a hit single crazy thing is Work Out didn’t really start charting high till months after the album came out. Cole pretty much proved based off his first week sales he never really needed a break out single for him to move units. I actually like Work out but, jesus some of those records seemed so forced like Mr. Nice Watch for example s*** was so unnecessary. I’m glad Hov just let Cole do his own thing after the debut.

That’s wild to me. Who Dat had that hit single sound, but i guess they did already drop that way before debut album was in talks

It was both, Hov was the head of the label at that point I think.
"By my mind that kept on sayin'
"Where's the hits?" You ain't got none
You know Jay'll never put your album out without none"

Cap
Its that classic Cole sound that we need back, after that album he went in weird directions that didn't fully work for him
The rapping didnt age very good but its one of his best sonically (yeah theres some s***ty songs), would listen to that s*** over KOD and 4YEO anyday
That’s wild to me. Who Dat had that hit single sound, but i guess they did already drop that way before debut album was in talks
Who Dat released today would go crazy
Got me thinking are hov and cole cool
they almost never mention eachother. Some say rich niggas was a sub too

What’s crazy to me is Cole fr didn’t kno how to curate or create a hit at that time. He just was making records he wanted to and was rapping his ass off. Dude over the years has just progressed so much as an artist like he’s always been phenomenal at rapping but if he really wanted to he could make a hit record with ease nowadays compared to when he first started. He really proved that when he did Power Trip and Crooked Smile. Like he found out the formula.
Not expecting anything crazy. That's what I do for every cole project and I'm always let down
Cole really bout to get his first number 1 record on this album too. I think Cole really kno what he doing with this one. Like he gonna some things he hasn’t done before on this release. He always accomplishes something on every album that he hasn’t done. I think him sitting back watching the last couple years seeing how the whole streaming era works he really about to come for heads and show why he is who he is and why he has been one the greatest hip hop artists of the last decade. We gonna see some crazy feats from him this time around.
