crazy how people are trying to hate on lines from this or on the album generally just to keep up that dumbass cole meme, similar to how they treat sean
Or the sign of a Stan
Nah, My Turn is full of filler and his feature run is inconsistent, but his flow and presence on the beat is unreal here. J Cole knew that he works so well for the song.
Asking this sincerely as someone who really wants Cole to drop a good album, but did anyone else find this album aggressively mediocre? The intro was tuff and heightened my hopes but I honestly cannot tell you a thing about this project and I’ve probably listened to it 3 times (each time because I feel like I haven’t absorbed it)
Suffers from having pretty much no standouts, extremely bland imo. Slightly better than KOD but still mid.
Is it just me who thinks that the first 50 seconds or so of 100 mil sounds like a Saba flow - can't figure out what track it reminds me of tho
edit: this isn't a biting accusation I just forgot what song it was

not a big fan of cole like that, but this album was pure heat
I like this album, but there’s been a lot of better albums than damn since it dropped
i revisited the price of tea in china earlier today and it s***s on the majority of rap albums that came out in 2020 and 2021.

One of my favourites
near perfect album, and to think he dropped manger on mcnichols the same year (even though it’s old)
Im goin to be honest w yall.. listened to it a couple times now and some tracks dont do anything for me anymore. They lack replay value
There are like 5 tracks that are amazing and the rest im like yeah cool. And lyrically or production wise they not even bad.. so idk whats up.. its just music for a certain mood i guess

i love everything about that album from the minimalist production all the way down to the abstract artwork.
not to compare off season to that, but that's just a diff level altogether. this is good but i want to hear next level for cole and i know he has it in him. this is closer to burden of proof, in terms of quality.
let go my hand my favourite song
W pride of the devil and hunger on hillside for me, and the intro ofc
This is the best rap album since DAMN.
I’m convinced
From the big commercial rappers prob yeah
it’s aight. i don’t see the hype
Felt like this on the 1st pass. Now I feel like this s*** is a classic
When will people realize it’s literally impossible to unpack everything going on an album on the first run through. So many bars, flows, so much instrumentation for your brain to a***yze. Your opinion doesn’t really mean s*** until your are 3-5 COMPLETE listens in.
