Yooo the intro is a madness

Cole rapped hard af on here, definitely the best he's been in years But it feels weird comparing this to his other work. BS, FHD, 4YEO, KOD and even FNL have more complete sounding songs with concepts he wanted to focus on and execute while trying to make them sound good. That doesn't seem like his focus here, he's just going in and proving his pen

  • May 14, 2021

Hate how much time he wasted with niggas just talking or instrumentals though, could've delivered more bars instead of wasting that time

Ok let go my hand is pretty good

    S*** dope af
The first 3 songs weren’t my favorite.
Amari sounded like a beat I’ve heard 100x

My life sounded like a lot 2.0 then 21 came in solidified that opinion to me(21 renegade)

After that, the rest was crazy dope to me

Super great album , great rapping and bars and beats were super nice .

    Which beat did dahi do?

    Let Go My Hand

    Noir

Cole just doesn't work with the most interesting ingredients and the execution isn't perfect enough to justify making solid but unremarkable hip hop at his level of popularity. The hype, fanbase and content line up in a way that confuses people.

Cole would receive less criticism as an indie rapper, but he'll grow more in the ways he needs to as a successful mainstream rapper. I think he can make another great album, but only with the right collaborators.

I've learned to drop my expectations when it comes to Cole. He's good at rapping but just doesn't have the skill to drop a College Dropout, Late Registration, TC, GKMC, TPAB tier classic. I think he's a much better rapper than he is a musician/artist Kinda the antithesis of Tyler the Creator over the past few years now that I think about it

But yeah, I've given up on expecting that classic from him. He's just going to end up being "one of the greatest of all time" without the discography to prove it

I feel like most rappers are trying to incorporate atleast one singing type song nowadays since thats the norm, ala pride is the devil
