It's gonna be close. There's no evidence to suggest trump will win other than doubt that the polls are representative of how people really feel, which is understandable, but outside of that there is no evidence to suggest trump will win it

It would have to be a total upset where Trump loses all the Midwest except for Ohio, then surprises in Arizona, Nevada, and New Hampshire. And New Mexico (which Gary Johnson over performed in in 2016, getting 9% where Trump lost by 8%).

So, somewhat plausible in that if it happened if it would be fathomable, but yeah everything would have to fall perfectly into place for that

day to day depends a lot on if they can keep the senate. if they can then more of the same of obama's last term. just making everything as slow and gridlocked as possible

on a broader level it will be interesting to see if they double down on the trump movement or try to forget him as quick as possible and rebrand to gain back centrist sympathies. that part will depend a lot on how big of a loss the election is i think

If Trump loses, I think republicans would reject Trumpism and nominate an Anti-Trump candidate while trying to reshape the narrative around them (someone like Romney).

Meanwhile Democrats would take Biden’s victory as “centrists win elections” and would try to fight off leftists for a little bit longer.

If Trump wins though, 2024 would be a far right Trump style candidate vs a far left democrat. Or Trump 3rd term vs Obama 3rd term

trump will lose because

1. his running boring GOP rhetoric instead of the one he ran in 2016
2. Covid response was terrible
3. People sick of the bullshit, they just want to go back to normal (which is just as s***)

one of my homies is in politics in pennsylvania and he's talked to a lot of people who feel betrayed by trump for not actually doing s*** for laborers like he promised. obviously just an anecdote but i think it's representative of a lot of people's feelings
