But he is criticizing major labels tho lol, he might not be calling for independence exactly but he is calling for reforms in how labels conduct which will affect future artist A LOT sure there is a hint of narcissism in there and probably not gonna get anything done but overall the message is good and aspiring artist can just see this and see the fight for ownership

he also helped frank get off his label deal iirc
the tidal thing does help the label-artist power dynamic a little as well just on the basis of it making music more financially viable and pressuring other services to raise royalties

dont get me wrong I think Jay can do a lot more
but hes definitely done more than Kanye has to date
