Of course being a violent gang member isn’t good but even then there are some scenarios that make sense
Like if you see someone you know is gonna kill you so you kill them, yes its bad to kill but that’s not black and white wrong
Or even more conflicting than that, someone might not be a direct threat to you but they killed your best friend, and you kill them yes its wrong but you see how that can get conflicting?
Abuse I see a lot of reasons it can happen but at the end of the day its all wrong, theres more nuisance to gang violence but of course its still wrong and shouldnt be glamorized

A lot of niggas I grew up with died over bullshit and pride and the whole gang culture is a f***ing waste.

You tell me how do you start to bring together two warring neighborhoods together that have been beefing over their friends and families being killed? The names that these rappers be dropping in the drill genre are decades old. Some of these people were their friends bruh.
This s*** is generations deep and everyone aint always fortunate enough to have a support group that can keep them on the right path.
The whole gang culture is a waste now why? Cause you and I both know when gangs started it wasn't like how it is now.
All the OGs that held the s*** in order are either dead or locked up in jail. That s*** wasn't by no accident. As long as the state governments keep defunding spaces where black boys could positively reinforce their anger from a world that did them wrong since day 1, as long as unemployment is still a problem in these neighborhoods, I ain't ever gonna come out the box and say that "everybody has a choice"

The reason why I ask about how to make the distinction between the two types of gang members was to ask
Don’t you think a gang member who is only in a gang for survival reasons and wants to live a peaceful life and has only ever hurt people in self defense is morally better than a domestic abuser of any kind, but that a gang member who is in a gang because they are attracted to crime, promote and engage in crime, and have recklessly killed people in relation to committing crimes, is actually worse than a domestic abuser of any kind?
If we’re gonna compare gang banging to domestic abuse I think we have to look at it from a more detailed lens being as both groups have actors that engage in completely different activities and are coming from different upbringings.

I’m from the suburbs bruh so I only know s*** off empirical evidence, which is why I ask so many questions on here to get people’s personal perspectives
But I absolutely agree that there is a choice. Wouldnt you say tho, that a lot of the people around you genuinely feel like there isn’t one rather than them thinking they are just making a bad decision instead of a good one?

Think about it like this: you’re hungry, your mom is barely ever home she’s too busy working to try to keep the lights on, schools don’t give a f***, police f*** with you every chance you get..etc
Then you see these other niggas who are eating and they offering you more than what you have ever had.
Which choice you taking as a young man? Sadly some of the dudes I was friends with picked the 2nd one and it makes sense why. One of em paid the price too.
Luckily I never had to make that choice and my parents was there for me. I’m glad I got the f*** out of baltimore too.
