I’ve always wondered about that as you can hear the split kinda on Stank

"However, recording sessions became difficult as André 3000 grew tired of rapping on songs, which made Big Boi and the producers uneasy about how the music would sound. To maintain musical cohesion with Big Boi while continuing to expand his vocal palette, André decided to combine rapping with soul-inspired crooning, which had a major influence on Stankonia's sound."

    And Stankonia is a classic.

but Dre definitely opened a door for singing ass niggas that kinda can't really sing

Yeah Stankonia is when Dre started to get bored with rapping hence why you heard him singing a lot more on there one day folks can have an honest conversation about how...uh...interesting his singing is. and that nigga's a hometown hero I met that nigga at my fav chinese restaurant when I was a jit but I meannnn

I mean Pimp Trick Gangsta Click skit shows they were very self aware of how they was being perceived. Return of the "G" was in essence Dre's response to how people was talking bout him.

People say they got on weird s*** later but the thing is Dre already wearing headwraps by the time ATLiens came out lol. The irony is folks was thinking he was on d**** but the only time he was ever high/drunk for real was during their debut album.

I would feel what @op saying too if I wasn't down here while this s*** was happening in real time. If Outkast was just making southernplayalistic type of albums for decades, like you said they wouldn't be Outkast and they wouldn't have longevity. The reason certain demographics of people (coughwhitepeoplecough) give Dre the d***ride so much is due to the fact he sticks out by contrasting with authentic southern Big Boi.

    His singing is great foh

bro listening to that instrumental bro this was TWO THOUSAND. Still Dre was making waves during that year lmfao. Like you wouldn't think it's a rap song lol.

@raps back when niggas weren't afraid to acknowledge when something was just hard regardless of how "it sounded" and years later one of the hardest diss songs ever was done on the beat lmao

funny fact: Badu did not like big boi's verses on this (lmaooo, makes sense considering the context, his verses is kinda out of pocket) but did appreciate andre's and says her mom even has Ms Jackson merch lol.
