First of all I’m muslim, it would be better if they did critical thinking first and question why are we supporting american/israeli backed rebels. Just because bashar is horrible doesnt mean you should support american/israel backed rebels. We saw what happened in Iraq/Libya and they are trying Syria.

"islamism" aside, i fundamentally cannot understand supporting the rebels over the assad government unless you want some to advocate for some kind of warped blood and soil nationalism discussion
this is usually at least what conversations about stuff like rojava and the kurds settles into, with the rebels it feels displaced given that most of the rebels are basically airdropped into syria to fight some multi-layered ideological and foreign funded battle
