    Do military planners really believe the US could take Kharg easily?

    I’m far from an expert, but the marines are just gonna get chewed up by drones and missiles as soon as they parachute in or as soon as their naval transport enters the strait, right?

    Even if they manage to secure a numbered presence on the island, how do they hold it? Iran will just send swarms of s*** directly at the island, right?

    What am I missing here?

    How have they fallen for it? They’ve repeatedly been defiant and have stated they will decide when the war stops every time this happens

    This is what I meant, glad that they’ve learned from previous mistakes

    By all accounts it wouldn’t be too difficult for the US to take over Kharg with the assets they have + are currently bringing to the region.

    But like you say, we have no idea how they can successfully hold it afterwards. It’ll almost definitely end in disaster knowing how the admin operates.

    In regards to that second tweet: I know he’s pump faked a lot with Iran but now that he’s seeing the effects it has on the stock market, I feel like Trump suddenly pulling out seems way more likely than an invasion does

    But at the same time, I don’t even think “suddenly pulling out” is a possibility at this point right? Like, Iran isn’t just going to open up the straight if we stop bombing them without any conditions that give them permanent security surely
