Seems like the deluxe won’t be a thing according to this interview

made it seem like he’d just drop another project, ik it may be doubtful bc if took 5 yrs for this but I feel things are gonna be better now

he mentioned the idea of a separate project for the slow tracks that had to get cut

Would love that if happened, wouldn't hold my breath on it though

Also calling something a deluxe means we get to hear it sooner as opposed to having to do a whole other project promotion cycle

well that's just as much on us for consuming music the way we do these days. i waited 5 years for some new s*** i'm just hoping the next don't take that long lol

tbh from a couple of the responses he gave, it sounds like he rather be writing and producing other niggas.

Because at the end of the day, I’m more of a producer and director than anything else, I just happen to write the scripts too. The only actor who I can get to say these raps is myself right now, because trust me, if I had somebody else to rap these, a dude with a better voice preferably, I would.

“You like to compare your albums to movies, and you said this new one is like The Hateful Eight or Blade Runner.”

The House Is Burning is like a passion project that I think a lot of people will like and other people just won’t get it. Art is to be delivered and interpreted. I’m not supposed to sell you my art, you feel me? You really have to like the premises of those two movies to get into them, you’re not gonna just watch Hateful Eight and be like, “This s*** bomb.” You have to like what movies are, you have to like character development, you have to like that the third or fourth character you’re introduced to is the most important one. You have to like those types of small nuances or details.

That’s why on the album, I put a lot of people whose music I like on specific songs that were more catered to them than to me. I think that’s somewhat like being a director and treating myself, the rapper, as more of a character. Because at the end of the day, I’m more of a producer and director than anything else, I just happen to write the scripts too. The only actor who I can get to say these raps is myself right now, because trust me, if I had somebody else to rap these, a dude with a better voice preferably, I would. I just make these soundscapes that are in my mind and they’re basically like soundtracks to certain times of day and certain things that are going on in my life, with the real intention that you should listen to this album at night while driving on a dark road, you should really feel that.

is he going for a dark, atmospheric vibe then?

i mean, it's probably true that TDE is pushing for a more commercial sound

Zay said that his favorites songs won't be on the album because they are too lowkey

"In typical Rashad fashion, he says that the ones he’s most proud of were left on the cutting room floor. Practically ballads, they were deemed too slow for the more mid- and up-tempo pace of The House is Burning. “Something slow and swinging always sounds the best to me,” he says. He hopes to release them soon. "

the reason he said because he thought it didnt fit the pace lmao
and hes said before HE wants a more fast paced album and some songs to be more commercial

nah i don't think he's being that literal. i do wish he broke the metaphor down more with the "nuances and details" he was talking about but yeah i don't think he means sound-wise.

95% likely it was scrapped. Everything on this album was apparently recorded from 2019-2020.

Thats probably when he really got deep into the album recording, but it started in 2019 for sure. And I can prove it. He played early versions of Wat U Sed and the title track on stage at Day N Vegas in November of 2019.
