maybe for zay but idk. So everybody he signed is mentally unstable? I know every artist has their vice but its weird to have a music label that rarely puts out music. Thats not to downplay what the artist are going through, but its technically bad business if you see the signs. Its the same reason who you work for probably ask if people have a history of mental illness before hiring so they can tempter expectations.
I genuinely think that it is somewhat a coincidence that they all seem to struggle to drop. SZA's been vocal about TDE literally pushing her to finally drop ctrl which she didn't even like or wasn't confident in, zay's been through some things which made him no longer confident in the music he recorded before he went through it, and kendrick always takes time to perfect s***
Kenny Beats has always been a real one
Does it mention him in the article? I haven’t read it yet

I hope we get that Cave episode one day
"From the Garden” and “Lay Wit Ya” are the closest things he’s made to club bangers or radio songs"
Ok I'm not worried anymore
Lay Wit Ya is a grower and the new version of FTG sounds much better to me

Oh thank god, I thought Lay Wit Ya felt like a radio bait song. We dont need him to make anymore of those
"After several months of regaining equilibrium, Rashad began recording the album in earnest last January. Moosa booked a month-long block of studio time and Rashad laid down roughly 20 songs. The final track listing was culled from a master vault that contains about 60 songs. In typical Rashad fashion, he says that the ones he’s most proud of were left on the cutting room floor. Practically ballads, they were deemed too slow for the more mid- and up-tempo pace of The House is Burning. “Something slow and swinging always sounds the best to me,” he says. He hopes to release them soon."

"But he says that the most important thing he did was learn to freestyle, for which he credits the producer Kenny Beats, who he calls his “rap coach.” Liberated from the laborious process of writing in his phone, Rashad absorbed the wisdom of the neon mantra hanging in The Cave, Beats’ studio: “Don’t overthink s***.”

“I was dead and now I’m alive,” he says, letting the words linger in the air for a few seconds, hopeful but unable to forget these last five years of chaos. “I guess.”
