Ye, KSG and JIK are super-present time capsule like albums that are a representation of who he was, or attempting to be in that moment, they don’t offer much beyond that but at least they have that anchor.
Everything else feels and sounds lost. DONDA 2 is probably the closest he’s come to making something purposeful, with a lot of reflection and commentary on his life, but you know.
I’d like to add to this, cuz I don’t think it was well translated the first time: I love TLOP, on a good day it ranks fourth in his discography for me, and I also think it’s his most experimental work by a wide margin. I just happen to think it also signified a massive shift in his approach to creating music, even if the methods felt similar (and still somewhat continue to be.)
I also enjoy Ye, KSG, and JIK to varying degrees.

White Lines is actually one of his better recent songs and that minimal drum sound seems to be what the original BULLY cohesive sound was like that “Brand New Tires Keep Spinning” song
All The Love feels like 08-09 Yeezy Stadium Sound something that would ring off in Glow In The Dark Tour reminds me of I’m The S*** lol (feature he did in 09) and GITD Dont Stop Believing Mix from the book trailer

I loved Bully and people said it was trying to sound like old Ye but I thought it was a nice addition to his latter years discog and yes we have soul samples and etc but I think it was doing something different with them. For sure it wasn't a classic but still I liked it
who knows how future albums will be. I don't know why we gotta box people in with labels like legacy act or whatever
If you look at the legendary musicians who keep making music into their latter years yes there are always duds but they're also capable of producing late classics too. I think he still got creativity for it to happen, it's just harder

I don’t think it’s peake Kanye but definitely worthwhile especially in like year 25 of his career.

Kanye being or not being great has nothing to do with his circumstances. You can make amazing art out of any life stage. It comes from his lack of drive to truly dig deep and make something incredible. Bully is undoubtedly a step in the right direction — at least it’s mostly coherent and enjoyable — but it is definitely SAFE which is the last thing you ever expect from Ye.
