That s*** was funny for like half a page why do y’all keep doing it for pages and pages
also yea she’s getting pushed real hard into the west which is lame cause her flamenco s*** and Los Angeles is amazing
I don’t know enough to comment on the reggaeton stuff but is it not just a similar situation to someone like Post Malone doing his Hip-Hop stuff?
Never heard of her tbh any songs worth checking out

This was a smash in Latin America
Ahh I completely understand your point now. I get that frustration. What would you have her do? To mend that cultural wound?
She needs to overtly say she’s not Latina. I don’t have a problem with somebody hopping on a track where it doesn’t sound phony(Pharrell on Safari by J Balvin), but when you go out of your way to avoid the whole Latina debacle by saying “there’s no borders” and hopping on tracks with Ozuna and Bad Bunny at the same time, it is f***ed up.
She's a white European
I think you're ignorant to the dynamics between white Spanish folk and Latinos/as...
I understand it, but follow that line of thought. Where does it lead? So only African Americans should make hip hop? Only Latin Americans can make raggaeton, Latin trap, and Dembow? Only Spaniards can make Flamenco?
I assume you’d say no. So what do we do about the Rosalia situation? I’ve actually wrote about this before, since it’s a classic case of cultural appropriation (when she dabs into certain genres and singing deliveries). First, she can acknowledge the cultural power dynamics (which you referenced) as a big artist she can uplift and shout out Latinos making the music she’s trying out (via feature or simple verbal support) and she can blend genres. As a Spaniard, she can address other genres from a unique perspective. This is a GOOD thing, and the beauty of music. It’s meant to be shared. So it’s worth thinking about innovate, fair, and optimistic ways to bring cultures together around genres.

I hear that. I 100% agree with you.
She's been trying to please the US for a while, it makes sense, but that's when the music gets worse like with Blackpink.
She did great with her album and then dropped some hits to conquer Latin America and it worked.
She's been taking some Ls trying to please the US, but she still got it when she's not, this was last year

Sorry if i came across rude but s*** irks me every time I think about it
i wish more people were aware of this because there are plenty of people that Ik personally who feel the same way as I do and some people who may not be a part of the Latino community won’t be aware of this. Just gotta stay educated ig

That dynamic makes a lot of sense w why it’s an issue more than just in a vacuum
But it still has me wondering why white people in hip-hop is accepted considering a similar dynamic exists there historically
Her last card is a Cardi B collab
Nah, hope not
A banger with multicultural Drake is what she needs.

No worries! You’re good! I’m African American and I feel the same way about non-black artist trying out hip-hop in an offensive way.
Like you said, people just need to educate themselves. I have a Latina friend who educated me on the Rosalia situation (she’s Columbian-American). I didn’t mean to play dumb earlier, I was just curious if you had any ideas about what Rosalia should do right. Since I think, as she grows, she’s going to have to do the things you mentioned.
