I get the vibe that The Weeknd wants to be Bruno Mars and I don't get why. Bruno Mars is insanely talented but his music was always quite in the moment and now his latest album is struggling compared to how huge he was 10~ yrs ago. The Weeknd coulda continued building something special which would have lasted but instead he's watering his sound down more and more which is going to be his demise in the end.

You should really know better than to judge performance off a debut, it’s Post and Weeknd, if that’s the best it does and doesn’t rise or consistently stay there it’s a big flop

Really the bar for them is like top 3 or flop. If it’s not an inescapable song then it didn’t do what it was supposed to do. I’m sure their teams weren’t releasing that record hoping for a #6
