Real impact is real.
I will no longer argue for reps in this section
Who gives a s***? It's a shirt.
who cares about the quality of an item you are purchasing?
me and probably a lot of other people
Hip-hop being invaded by hypebeast white folk is a cultural/race topic
vs
Fashion being globalized topic of art
Yeah that s*** don't make sense lol
Bigger problems exist in fashion more than reps lol. Let's worry about Zara and Shein first
If your a consumer of reps, your part of the fast fashion/wasted resources problem as well. Even Dapper Dan had more respect for fashion cause he bought actual Gucci/LV bags and then made his creations from there. And he didn't sell his garments for cheap, cause thats what was expected from someone like him.
He sold at the same price as high fashion brands, cause he wanted his product to mean something when you wore it,he wanted a Dapper Dan puece to be special, when you bought it. Same philosophy applies to High Fashion, while reps turn high fashion into fast fashion.
You want the recognition/prestige wearing designer brings, but you don't wanna pay for it,its backwards

Ah man. I bought a $25 shirt instead of $200-300 shirt from a designer brand or reseller because of the authenticity of a product...I am consumer trash.

aight bro you got it
there's way more reasons to be against reps than this and the fact that y'all think this is the only reason is very short sighted
It always just seems like that's the main reason, I don't buy the whole "Nike deserves our money no matter what" tangent tbh
That's different lol. The point is to get one piece for cheap or less that you like lol
I didn't even know anyone did that tbh
Lol like I said gatekeeping
who tf is gatekeeping lol, u think fashion fans control the resell market or something?

Vetements is a funny brand to have this discussion around, since many of their designs are repping "unfashionable" tourist & fan merchandise.
You could build a vetements-inspired outfit with some outerwear from a military surplus store, or an aesthetically low-quality hoodie from a mall brand.
On the flip side I think reps of "iconic" pieces can be used in a troll manner aligned with Vetements' brand vision. Paint a mural wearing your designer hoodie, skateboard in your rep shoes. I'm 50/50 on if its best to mix the f***ed-up reps with actual designer or just regular clothes, for Vetements you can probably rock a destroyed antwerpen hoodie w/ levis, timberland boots and a DC backpack & people will get the vision.
